VU4.2 delivers a broad interface cleanup with more compact layouts, clearer Upgrade costs, a new Upgrade filter, a smaller combat stage, improved responsive behaviour and a Chrome mobile audio fix.

VU4.2 Patch Notes - Compact Interface & Upgrade Clarity

Distant Shift VU4.2 is now live.

This update focuses on reducing unnecessary interface space, improving Upgrade readability and making the game more comfortable to use across desktop, tablet and mobile.

UPGRADES

• Reduced padding, margins and spacing throughout Upgrade cards.

• Reduced the overall amount of scrolling required in the Upgrade panel.

• Added colour-coded Upgrade purchase buttons based on the resource required.

• Credits, Field Essence, Ore and Components now have distinct button colours.

• Added a Cost Type filter to the Upgrade panel.

• Upgrades can now be filtered by:
- All
- Credits
- Field Essence
- Ore
- Components

• Preserved existing Upgrade levels, costs, descriptions and progression.

RESPONSIVE UPGRADES

• Improved the Upgrade layout on smaller screens.

• Upgrade content now switches to a single-column layout at narrow widths.

• Removed the unnecessary internal Upgrade scrolling behaviour on smaller displays.

• Mouse-wheel and normal page scrolling now behave more naturally through the Upgrade section.

COMPACT INTERFACE

• Reduced excess padding, margins and gaps throughout the main game interface.

• Compacted the top interface and resource areas.

• Reduced spacing between major gameplay sections.

• Improved interface density across desktop, tablet and mobile layouts.

• More gameplay information can now remain visible on screen at the same time.

COMBAT STAGE

• Reduced the height of the main creature and combat stage.

• Added more compact sizing for desktop, tablet and mobile layouts.

• Creature interaction, combat controls and the existing combat presentation remain intact.

MOBILE AUDIO

• Improved audio activation behaviour on Chrome mobile.

• The first normal player interaction can now resume the browser AudioContext before world music begins.

• This removes the previous situation where some Chrome mobile sessions required opening Settings before music would start.

RESPONSIVE INTERFACE

• Improved layout behaviour when resizing the desktop browser to narrower widths.

• Reduced unnecessary vertical space throughout responsive layouts.

• Preserved existing mobile Upgrade scrolling and single-column behaviour.

GENERAL

• No gameplay progression was removed.

• No existing Upgrade definitions were removed.

• No save-data structure changes were made.

• No balance changes were introduced as part of this interface update.
