VU4.2 - Compact Interface & Upgrade Clarity

VU4.2 makes Distant Shift faster and cleaner to navigate with a more compact interface, improved Upgrade filtering and resource colours, a smaller combat stage, better responsive layouts and improved Chrome mobile audio activation.

VU4.2 - Compact Interface & Upgrade Clarity

Distant Shift VU4.2 is now live, bringing a focused interface and usability pass across the game.

One of the biggest changes is the Upgrade interface. Upgrade cards have been tightened considerably by reducing excess padding, margins and spacing, allowing more upgrades to remain visible without requiring as much scrolling.

Upgrade purchase buttons are also now colour-coded according to the resource they require. Credits, Field Essence, Ore and Components each have their own visual identity, making it much easier to scan the Upgrade panel and immediately understand what type of resource an upgrade will consume.

A new Cost Type filter has also been added to the Upgrade panel. Players can display all upgrades or narrow the list to upgrades purchased with Credits, Field Essence, Ore or Components.

The wider Distant Shift interface has received the same compact treatment. Excess spacing has been reduced throughout the main game layout across desktop, tablet and mobile, keeping more useful gameplay information visible at once.

The main creature and combat stage has also been reduced in height. Combat remains fully interactive, but the creature area now occupies less vertical space and leaves more room for the surrounding progression systems.

Responsive Upgrade behaviour has been improved as well. Smaller displays now use a single-column Upgrade layout, while scrolling has been adjusted so mouse-wheel and normal page scrolling behave naturally rather than becoming trapped inside the Upgrade panel.

VU4.2 also includes an important Chrome mobile audio improvement. World music can now activate correctly from the player's first normal tap or click, removing the previous situation where some Chrome mobile sessions required opening the Settings panel before music would begin.

These changes are primarily focused on presentation, navigation and reliability. Existing progression, upgrade levels, resources, save data and game balance remain intact.
